Supporting Every Pupil to Succeed: Our Commitment to the Pupil Premium

At Springwell Lincolnshire, we are dedicated to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances. The Pupil Premium is a vital government funding stream that plays a key role in helping us achieve this ambition. This additional funding allows us to provide targeted support for disadvantaged students, breaking down barriers to learning and closing the attainment gap.

What is the Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium is funding allocated to schools in England to support pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years, as well as those who are or have been in care. The funding is designed to help schools raise the attainment of these pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.

Our Approach at Springwell Lincolnshire

Across our family of schools in Lincoln, Mablethorpe, Grantham, and Spalding, we are committed to using the Pupil Premium to make a real and lasting difference to our students’ lives. Our approach is tailored to the unique needs of our pupils, many of whom have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. We believe in a holistic approach to education, and our Pupil Premium spending reflects this.

Funding is directed towards a range of interventions and support, which may include:

  • Targeted Academic Support: Providing small group or one-to-one tuition to accelerate progress in core subjects like English and maths.
  • Pastoral and Nurture Support: Investing in our pastoral teams to provide dedicated support for students’ emotional and social wellbeing, creating a safe and nurturing environment where they can flourish.
  • Enrichment and Personal Development: Funding educational visits, extracurricular activities, and access to resources that broaden horizons and build confidence and resilience.
  • Removing Barriers to Learning: Assisting with the costs of school uniforms, equipment, and other essential resources to ensure all students can fully participate in school life.

At Springwell Lincolnshire, we are passionate about creating a learning environment where every child and young person can succeed. The Pupil Premium provides us with a valuable tool to help turn this vision into a reality for our most vulnerable students.

Our Commitment to Transparency

We are committed to being transparent in how we use our Pupil Premium funding. Each of Springwell Lincolnshire academies develops a detailed Pupil Premium strategy, outlining how the funding will be spent and the intended impact. These strategies are regularly reviewed to ensure they are effective and meet the needs of our students.
