Springwell Lincolnshire Embraces the Thrive Approach to Nurture and Empower Every Student
At Springwell Lincolnshire, we are proud to be a Thrive School, a commitment that places the social and emotional development of our students at the very heart of everything we do. This whole-school approach provides a powerful framework to support our young people in becoming more resilient, engaged, and successful learners.
Our mission across all Springwell Lincolnshire academies is to provide a supportive and nurturing environment where every student feels valued and understood. The Thrive Approach seamlessly aligns with our core values of trauma-informed practice and unconditional positive regard, offering a dedicated pathway to help our students flourish.
What is the Thrive Approach?
The Thrive Approach is a dynamic and developmental process that helps us to understand and address the individual social and emotional needs of each child. Rooted in the latest findings in neuroscience, attachment theory, and child development, Thrive provides us with the tools to identify any interruptions in a child’s development and implement targeted strategies to support them.
Through the Thrive Approach, we can:
- Promote Positive Mental Health: We proactively support the mental wellbeing of our students, helping them to build the resilience to navigate life’s challenges.
- Develop Healthy Relationships: The approach is built on the importance of positive and consistent relationships between adults and students, fostering a sense of safety and trust.
- Support Readiness to Learn: By addressing their emotional needs, we help students to settle, engage, and be ready to access the curriculum and achieve their full academic potential.
- Reduce Incidents of Distress: Thrive helps us to understand the underlying reasons for distressed behaviours, enabling us to respond with targeted and supportive interventions rather than purely punitive measures.
How Does Thrive Work at Springwell Lincolnshire?
Across our academies, trained Thrive Practitioners work with class teams to assess the developmental needs of our students. This allows us to create bespoke action plans that can be delivered on an individual, small group, or whole-class basis.
These plans are not about “fixing” a child, but rather about providing them with the right support and experiences to continue their healthy social and emotional development. Activities may include creative arts, play-based learning, and mentoring sessions, all designed to build self-esteem, improve emotional regulation, and foster a positive outlook.
A Partnership for Success
We believe that working in close partnership with our parents and carers is essential for our students’ success. We are committed to sharing our Thrive journey with you and providing you with the information and support to continue this positive development at home.
By embedding the Thrive Approach across Springwell Lincolnshire, we are creating a community where every student has the opportunity to not just learn, but to thrive.
