Springwell Lincolnshire: Charging and Remissions Policy

At Springwell Lincolnshire, part of the Wellspring Academy Trust, we are committed to providing a rich and inclusive educational experience for all our students. Our charging policy outlines the circumstances under which charges will be made for academy activities and explains the support available for families who may find it difficult to meet these costs.

Our policy is developed in line with the guidance from the Department for Education and aims to ensure that no child is excluded from activities because of an inability or unwillingness to pay.

Education

Springwell Lincolnshire will not charge for the following:

  • Admission to any of our academies.
  • Education provided during academy hours. This includes the materials, books, instruments, and other equipment necessary for the national curriculum.
  • Education provided outside of academy hours if it is part of the national curriculum, a syllabus for a prescribed public examination, or part of religious education.
  • Entry for a prescribed public examination, provided the student has been prepared for it at the academy.

Voluntary Contributions

We may, from time to time, ask for voluntary contributions to support general academy funds or specific activities that enhance our educational provision. There is no obligation to make any contribution, and students will not be treated any differently if a contribution is not made.

Remissions and Financial Assistance

The Wellspring Academy Trust and Springwell Learning Community Lincolnshire understand that charges for some activities can be a source of financial concern. We have a remissions policy to support eligible families.

Parents and carers who are in receipt of certain benefits may be exempt from the board and lodging costs of residential trips. These benefits include:

  • Universal Credit in prescribed circumstances
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Child Tax Credit, provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income that does not exceed the specified amount
  • The guarantee element of State Pension Credit

If you believe you may be eligible for financial assistance or wish to discuss payment options in confidence, please contact the academy office. All enquiries will be handled with sensitivity and discretion.
