Our Partnership with Positive Regard: A Shared Commitment to Students
At Springwell Lincolnshire, our core mission is to create a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where every student can thrive. We believe that understanding and responding to the individual needs of our students is the key to their success. To ensure our approach is consistent, therapeutic, and rooted in the very best practice, we are proud to have a deep and embedded partnership with Positive Regard.
Positive Regard is a leading national organisation, linked to our Academy Trust, dedicated to helping schools build cultures of safety, belonging, and success. The partnership between Positive Regard and Springwell Lincolnshire is about supporting schools in Lincolnshire to think about behaviour as a form of communication and that by understanding the ‘why’ behind a student’s actions, we can better support their development.
What is Positive Regard?
The name itself comes from the work of psychologist Carl Rogers and the principle of unconditional positive regard—the act of supporting someone, no matter what they say or do. This philosophy is the foundation of our work. It means we focus on building strong, trusting relationships and moving from simple ‘behaviour management’ to a more holistic and effective model of ‘behaviour support’.
Positive Regard is more than a training and consultancy service. They put the individual needs of children at the heart of everything they do. The holistic services on offer are flexible and shaped completely around the needs of the children and young people. They work with schools and children’s services to bring about an empathetic culture of support through staff training, practice modelling and policy review.
